Overview

International Design Studio (IDS) is a Singapore architecture firm which delivers award-winning design solutions for projects in South East Asia, Middle East, South Asia, Africa and Singapore. IDS started out as a boutique studio dedicated to the creation of new paradigms for sustainable and iconic developments. The firm has undertaken prestigious projects for residential, commercial, hospitality and institutional buildings in Asia and the Middle East region.

The office was founded by the late Dr Timothy Seow, who is still one of the most well-known pioneer generation architects in Singapore. Currently, the office is lead by Ho Lih Liang and Henry Lagansua, both are mentored by Dr Seow for more than 20 years.

IDS believes that the first step to achieving architectural excellence is by understanding the clients’ needs; Our approach to architecture is a simple but effective combination of programmatic analysis, strong contextual response, being environmentally friendly and creating a product that will make life good. Armed with this philosophy, IDS continues to strengthen their relationship with our clients whilst striving to deliver high-level creative services.

KEY PEOPLE OF OUR AWESOME TEAM

Lih Liang Ho has more than 28 years of experience in architecture practice in Singapore and overseas. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1989 with a BA(AS) degree, followed by his B.Arch(Hons) degree in 1992. He passed his professional exams in 1994 and became a Registered Architect in Singapore. In 2006, he is registered as a Registered Inspector (Arch) for Fire Safety Works. In both cases, he obtained his registration in the shortest possible time. He is also a registered APEC Architect, ASEAN Architect and registered Architect in Victoria, Australia.

In addition, Lih Liang also had the benefit of being mentored for more than 20 years by the late Dr Timothy Seow, who is one of the most well-known architects in Singapore.

Lih Liang has successfully managed numerous major projects and led architectural design and project teams of up to 60 architectural members (excluding engineers). In his previous appointments, he was overseeing the architectural division & studio in Singapore; he was also the managing director for Dubai office.

In 2006, Simei Care Centre (a 9-Storey psychiatric rehabilitation and care centre with Tropical Architecture features) – a project designed by Lih Liang received the Singapore Institute of Architects design award (honourable mention) for design excellence. This project was also nominated for the President’s Design award in 2009.
In 2009, he was also in the final shortlist for the URA selection of 20 outstanding architects under 45 years old.

Some other projects that he worked on includes Paterson Residence (a high-end residential development in Singapore); Icon Residence Mont Kiara (winner of World Architecture News WAN award); M-City Ampang (a 2m sqft award winning mixed development in KL); Icon City (a 1.8m sqft award winning mixed development in Petaling Jaya); Aladdin City in Dubai; a 4m sqft shopping mall and housing projects in Saudi Arabia, etc.
 

Ho Lih Liang

DIRECTOR

Henry Lagansua has been practicing architecture in Singapore for 28 years. Received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the prestigious Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila in 1994. Trained and mentored by Dr Timothy Seow since 1996. Well-rounded, and hands-on involvement in design, tender documentation, and project administration. Henry Lagansua has vast experience on notable projects in Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, Mongolia, Thailand, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and India.

In the middle east, he is the Project Director for the iconic Aladdin City in Dubai. In Saudi Arabia, a 4million sqft shopping mall and a combined land area of 1500 hectare housing project.

In Asia, Henry is the project director of the prestigious projects in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, “Icon Residence” Mont Kiara, “M-City” Ampang, “Icon City” Petaling Jaya, and luxury residence at “Bukit Tunku”. In Thailand, project director of some of the tallest condominium developments, The River (70-storeys) in Bangkok and Northpoint (60-storeys) in Pattaya.

In Singapore, he worked on luxury residential projects such as Laguna 88 condominium, St Martin Residence condominium which won the SIA Design Award 2001, good class bungalows at Maryland Drive, and luxury bungalows at Treasure Island & Sentosa Cove.

Henry believes that a successful architectural project is not only about great ideas and designs. At its core is a creativity supported by a good partnership with the client in achieving a common goal, a great deal of teamwork with the various consultants, specialists and builders. This is paramount to Henry’s bold yet holistic design approach.

Henry’s design flair is greatly influenced by his keen interest in technology and his love for nature and the arts. This is evident in Henry’s contemporary and poetic designs.  

Henry Lagansua

DIRECTOR

Born and brought up in Manila, Philippines, Michael studied architecture at the Technological University of the Philippines and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1999. He took a specialist course at the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Academy in Singapore and graduated with a Specialist Diploma in Building Information Modelling in 2014.

Michael’s formative career was spent in the Philippines before he relocated his family to Singapore in 2007.

He initially worked on various hospitality projects in his early years in Singapore before joining IDS in 2009. During his time at IDS Michael was involved in project managing the Icon City project in Malaysia, a 170,000 sqm floor area mixed development project comprising of office and residential towers and a retail podium. He was also a member of the design team that developed the award-winning (World Architecture News 13) Icon Residence Mont Kiara in Kuala Lumpur. He was also involved in other large, complex, residential, commercial and mixed-use developments in the region and the Middle East.

Michael is a Registered Architect in the Philippines and is responsible for managing teams in the design and project implementations. He also interfaces with Clients and Project Consultants. 

He believed that a designer should never stop reinventing himself and to continuously better his skills with the latest technology that will make him creative, efficient and productive.

Michael Servito

SENIOR PEOJECT ASSOCIATE

John Tyrone Nanad has more than 20 years of professional practice in the Philippines, United Arab Emirates, and Singapore. He started his career in 1999 by working on projects focused on the development of the built environment. He, later on, he moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2006 to continue his practice. It was in this region where he got the opportunity to be involved in projects of magnitude scale ranging from residential to high-rise mixed-use developments. He subsequently went to Singapore in 2009 and has been involved in multifaceted projects locally and overseas. His involvement is of various phases from schematic design, design development, and project management.

John attended the University of the Philippines and became a Philippine licensed architect in 2001. He has also taught at the School of Design and Arts of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Manila.
